How ParloKids handles information for parent-managed family accounts and child profiles.
Effective date: August 12, 2026
1. About ParloKids
ParloKids (“ParloKids,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the ParloKids web and mobile services described in this policy.
2. Scope
This policy describes how ParloKids collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards information when parents and guardians create and use a ParloKids family account, and when child profiles are used inside that account. It applies to the ParloKids web application and to the ParloKids practice experience delivered on mobile (together, the “Service”).
3. Parent and child profiles
ParloKids is designed around a parent-managed family account:
- An adult parent or guardian creates and controls the account.
- Child profiles exist only inside that adult-controlled account.
- Children do not create independent ParloKids accounts.
- The parent decides what profile information is provided.
- A nickname or other identifier may be used where a legal name is not required.
- Family currently supports up to 3 active child profiles.
- Premium currently supports up to 8 active child profiles.
You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into an agreement to create and control a ParloKids parent account. This requirement applies to the adult who holds the account; it does not set an age limit on the child whose profile the parent creates and manages within that account.
4. Information we collect
4.1 Parent-account information
- Email address used to sign in.
- Authentication information handled by our authentication provider.
- Subscription plan and status information.
4.2 Child-profile information
- A display name or identifier that the parent selects for the child.
- The practice language selected for the profile.
- Other profile settings the parent configures.
4.3 Practice information
- Records of practice sessions completed for a given child profile.
- Category or activity information generated during practice.
- Timestamps associated with practice history.
4.4 Technical and service information
- Ordinary request, device, and browser information generated when the Service is used, such as request timestamps and browser or device type.
4.5 Billing information
When you subscribe to a paid plan, ParloKids receives the subscription, customer, and transaction identifiers returned by our payment processor so that we can associate an active subscription with your parent account. ParloKids does not receive or store full payment card numbers, expiry dates, or security codes.
5. How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- create and operate parent accounts;
- maintain child profiles within a family account;
- provide the practice experience to child profiles;
- show practice and history information to the parent;
- operate subscriptions and billing;
- authenticate users;
- maintain the security of the Service and prevent abuse;
- respond to support requests;
- send necessary account, subscription, and service communications.
We do not use ParloKids information to serve advertising, and we do not sell information about parents or children.
6. Payments
Paid subscriptions are processed by Stripe. When you enter payment card details on a checkout page, those details are handled by Stripe under Stripe’s terms and privacy policy. ParloKids receives only the customer, subscription, and transaction identifiers needed to associate an active subscription with your parent account. ParloKids does not receive or store full payment card numbers, expiry dates, or security codes.
7. Service providers
We use service providers to operate parts of ParloKids. These include Supabase for database and authentication services and Stripe for payment processing. These providers may process information in Canada, the United States, or other jurisdictions in which they or their subprocessors operate. Where information is processed outside your province or country, it may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction. We use these providers only for the purposes described in this policy.
8. Children’s privacy
ParloKids is designed around a parent-managed account. Children do not create independent ParloKids accounts. An adult parent or guardian creates the family account, creates and manages child profiles, and controls the information entered for those profiles.
Parents and guardians should provide only information reasonably necessary to use the Service. A legal name is not required where a nickname or other identifier is sufficient.
A parent or guardian may contact us at privacy@parlokids.com to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information associated with their family account, subject to information we are legally required to retain.
9. Security
We use standard controls to protect ParloKids:
- HTTPS for network transport between your browser or device and ParloKids.
- Authentication is provided by Supabase Auth. Passwords are handled through Supabase Auth rather than stored or read as plaintext by ParloKids.
- Database access is protected by row-level access controls so that one family’s data is not accessible to another family.
- Access to production systems is restricted to people who need it to operate the Service.
No online service can guarantee absolute security. If you believe you have identified a security issue involving ParloKids, please contact security@parlokids.com.
10. Retention and deletion
Different kinds of ParloKids information are kept for different periods.
Active service data. Information needed to operate an active family account is generally retained while the account remains active, or as otherwise necessary to provide the Service.
Child profiles. Parents can manage or remove child profiles from within their family account using the functionality currently available in the Service.
Account deletion. You may request deletion of your ParloKids account by contacting privacy@parlokids.com. We aim to complete verified account-deletion requests within 30 days, subject to information we must retain for legal, accounting, security, fraud-prevention, or other legitimate purposes.
Billing, tax, accounting, security, and fraud-prevention records. Certain billing, transaction, tax, accounting, security, and fraud-prevention records may be retained for the period required by applicable law, including after your account is closed.
11. Your privacy choices
Where supported by the Service, you may:
- manage or remove child profiles from your family account;
- correct information you have provided to us;
- cancel a paid subscription;
- request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information associated with your family account by emailing privacy@parlokids.com.
12. Cookies and similar technologies
ParloKids uses cookies or similar browser storage where necessary to provide account, authentication, security, and service functionality. We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies or behavioural advertising trackers on the ParloKids marketing site. If we add analytics or similar technologies in the future, this policy will be updated to describe them.
13. International processing
ParloKids may be accessed by users outside Canada. Our service providers may process information in Canada, the United States, or other jurisdictions in which they or their subprocessors operate. Where information is processed outside your province or country, it may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Effective date” at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify signed-in parents by email at the address on the account.
