Terms of Service

The terms that apply when parents and guardians use ParloKids.

Effective date: August 12, 2026

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your use of the ParloKids web and mobile services (together, the “Service”), operated by ParloKids (“ParloKids,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating a ParloKids account or by using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

2. Eligibility and parent-managed accounts

ParloKids is designed to be used by parents and legal guardians on behalf of children in their care. You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into an agreement to create and control a ParloKids parent account.

Children do not create independent ParloKids accounts. Each child uses the Service through a profile that a parent has created and administers inside a family account. When you add a child profile you confirm that you have the authority to do so for that child.

3. Your account

  • You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide when creating a parent account.
  • You are responsible for keeping your ParloKids sign-in credentials confidential and for activity that occurs under your account.
  • You agree to notify us promptly at security@parlokids.com if you become aware of any unauthorised use of your account.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • attempt to access another family’s account or data;
  • attempt to reverse-engineer, disrupt, or overload the Service;
  • use the Service to violate any applicable law;
  • use the Service to upload content that is unlawful or that infringes another person’s rights;
  • enrol a child in the Service if you do not have authority to do so.

5. Plans, subscriptions and billing

ParloKids offers a Free tier and paid Family and Premium tiers. Live prices are shown on the ParloKids pricing page. Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly or annual cycle through Stripe, our payment processor. ParloKids does not receive or store full payment card numbers, expiry dates, or security codes.

Prices are shown in U.S. dollars unless otherwise indicated. Applicable taxes may be added based on your location.

We may change subscription prices from time to time. Price changes take effect at your next renewal after we have made the change available on the pricing page or otherwise communicated it to you.

6. Cancellation and refunds

You may cancel a paid subscription at any time from your account. Cancellation prevents future renewal. Unless otherwise required by applicable law, paid access ordinarily continues until the end of the current billing period.

Subscription charges are generally not automatically refundable after they have been processed. If you believe a charge was made in error, or there are exceptional circumstances, contact support@parlokids.com and we will review your request. Nothing in these Terms limits any refund, cancellation, or other consumer rights available to you under applicable law.

7. Educational purpose and professional care

ParloKids is an educational practice companion for families. ParloKids is not a medical device, diagnostic tool, or treatment, and it is not a substitute for professional care by a speech-language pathologist, physician, psychologist, or other qualified professional. If you have concerns about a child’s speech, language, development, or health, please consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.

8. Intellectual property

The ParloKids Service — including its content, design, code, and trademarks — is owned by ParloKids or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the Service for your family’s use. Any rights not expressly granted are reserved.

9. Information and content you provide

You retain your rights in the information you provide when creating a parent account and when configuring a child profile. You grant ParloKids a limited licence to use that information solely to operate the Service for you — for example, to display recent practice history to you in your parent dashboard. We do not use the information you provide to advertise to third parties.

10. Suspension and termination

You may close your ParloKids account at any time by contacting support@parlokids.com. We may suspend or terminate access to the Service if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or if we are required to do so by law. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — for example, sections on intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability — will survive.

11. Service availability and disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ParloKids disclaims all warranties, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any practice content will produce any particular educational outcome.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ParloKids and its officers, employees, and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service. ParloKids’ total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the amount you paid to ParloKids in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.

13. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify and hold ParloKids harmless from and against claims, damages, and expenses arising out of your misuse of the Service or your violation of these Terms.

14. Changes to the Service and to these Terms

We may update the Service and these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes to these Terms, we will update the “Effective date” at the top of this page and, for signed-in parents, notify you by email at the address on the account. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Québec and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Subject to any rights you may have under applicable consumer- protection law, disputes relating to these Terms or the Service will be brought before the courts of competent jurisdiction in Québec.
